Satan’s real name before his fall is traditionally believed to be “Lucifer.” The name “Lucifer” comes from the Latin word meaning “light-bringer” or “morning star.” This name is often associated with a passage in Isaiah 14:12, which says, “How you have fallen from heaven, morning star, son of the dawn! You have been cast down to the earth, you who once laid low the nations!” (NIV). In this context, “Lucifer” is interpreted as a reference to a being who was once exalted but fell from grace.

In Christian tradition, Lucifer is considered to have been a high-ranking angel who rebelled against God due to pride and was cast out of heaven, becoming Satan, the adversary of God and humanity. The name “Satan” itself means “adversary” or “accuser” in Hebrew.

It’s important to note that the interpretation of “Lucifer” as the name of Satan before his fall is not universally accepted across all Christian denominations and is based on a particular reading of the Isaiah passage, which some scholars argue originally referred to a Babylonian king rather than an angelic being.
